The Park of Glory is the memorial to the military personnel, who lost their lives in the battles around Kaniv in WWII. A huge statue of a mother holding a child, representing the Motherland, towers over plaques, which list the names of the fallen. Kaniv was taken by the Germans in August 1941. It was liberated by the 206th Infantry Division on 31st January 1944. A separate memorial to the liberators stands elsewhere in the city
