Sir David Salomons had Broomhill rebuilt in the Italianate style, employing local architect, Decimus Burton. On his death, his nephew, David Lionel Salomons, electrician, engineer and inventor, succeeded to his house and title and he organised a number of notable extensions including a Science Theatre. The theatre now houses the only Welte Philharmonic Pipe Organ in the world. The house became known as David Salomons’ House and is now a building of Canterbury Christ Church University. A museum to the Salomons can be visited and from time to time Welte Organ concerts are held. To find out more about the Salomons family, the Museum and the Welte Organ go to the Salomons Centre website
