Now the Weavers pub-restaurant, the 16th century building was originally the dwelling of a large farm. Its early history is still being researched by the Southborough Society. From the middle of the eighteenth century it was known as Stemp’s Farm. In the 1930s the fields of an already reduced farm were sold and the establishment began trading as Ye Old Weavers Restaurant. In World War II the building was temporarily an officer’s base.
